PhD in USA
Pursuing a Ph.D. in the UK is very different from studying a Ph.D. in the US or Europe. In the US, a Ph.D. student is in direct contact with his/her professor which gives them the flexibility to change their research and study areas. This is not the case in the UK where the program is headed by a professor with less flexibility.
Another difference between Ph.D. students in the US and those in the UK and Europe is the teaching style and marking of subjects. In the US, Ph.D. students have to give more importance to teaching and marking as compared to Ph.D. students in Europe. This might mean that you would have less free time apart from your studies- that’s a good thing only especially when you are aiming to do your best.
Funding your Ph.D. in the USA
If you start preparing for your Ph.D. application well in advance, then you would have more time to apply for and arrange your Ph.D. funding. The cost of PhDs in the US can vary between $28,000 to $40,000 per year. Also, many Ph.D. students in the US find funding for all or much of their studies.

The deadline to apply for Ph.D. programs in the USA is usually between December and February, and institutions will inform you about the status of your application by April.
In the USA, a full-time Ph.D. student usually takes 5-6 years to complete their course while for others, it may take as long as 8 to 10 years.
